Write for Us
NepaIndex publishes practical, Nepal-specific writing for business owners, travellers and readers who want local knowledge they can act on. If you know a subject first-hand, we would like to hear from you.
Who we're looking for
Our readers are people trying to get something done — open a shop in Pokhara, pick a trekking agency, work out what a remittance really costs, or find a clinic open on a Saturday. The writing that works here answers one of those questions properly.
That makes experience worth more than a byline. Business owners, guides, accountants, developers, teachers and anyone who has done the thing and taken notes are all welcome. Read a few posts on the NepaIndex blog before pitching — the best guide to what we publish is what we have published.
One thing this page is not: a link-building service. Guest posts are free to submit and free to publish, we do not sell placements, and we turn down far more pitches than we accept.

What we publish
Six subjects our readers search for most. A strong idea outside this list is still worth sending — tell us who it helps.
Running a small business in Nepal
Registration and PAN/VAT basics, hiring, pricing, dealing with seasonality, and what actually brings customers through the door.
Getting found online
Local SEO, Google Business Profile, social media that works for Nepali shops, and turning walk-in customers into repeat ones.
Travel, hospitality and tourism
Trekking and homestay operations, guest experience, and city or trail guides written by someone who has actually been there.
Money and remittance
Forex, remittance costs, digital payments and personal finance explained for a Nepali reader. Accuracy matters more than opinion here.
Local guides and culture
Neighbourhood guides, festivals, markets, and the practical local knowledge a visitor or new resident cannot get from a map.
Careers and skills
Working in Nepal, freelancing and remote work, studying abroad, and the skills local employers are actually asking for.
What a submission needs
- 1,200–2,000 words. Shorter is fine if the topic genuinely ends there; padding is not.
- Original and unpublished — including on your own blog. We do not republish existing articles.
- Written for a Nepali reader: NPR, real place names, local examples. Not a generic post with “Nepal” swapped in.
- First-hand or sourced. Say how you know something, and link the report, statistic or official page it came from.
- Structured with H2 and H3 headings, short paragraphs, and lists where a list is clearer than prose.
- Sent as a Google Doc or Markdown file — not a PDF, and not pasted into the body of the email.
- A 2–3 sentence author bio, a headshot, and the one profile you want linked.
- Images are welcome at 1200×630 or larger, sent separately, with a note on who owns them.
What we turn down
- AI-generated drafts submitted as-is. We can tell, and we stop reading.
- Thin rewrites of an article that already ranks, with nothing new added.
- Press releases, product announcements, or anything that reads as an advert for one company.
- Gambling, adult, loan, crypto-trading, essay-writing or pharmacy content — whatever the fee offered.
- Posts written to place a link, where the topic is the excuse and the link is the point.
- Anything plagiarised or defamatory, or medical, legal and financial claims with no source.
Our link policy
One followed link in the author bio, and body links only where they help the reader. We do not sell links, exchange them or accept sponsored placements — those are link spam under Google's policies and they put both sites at risk. Affiliate and tracking links are stripped. Paid promotion is a separate conversation — see pricing or ask on the contact page.
From pitch to published
- 1
Send two or three ideas
Email a working title and two or three sentences on the angle for each. Do not write the full draft first — most rejections are about topic fit, and that is a lot of wasted work.
- 2
We reply within 7 days
If an idea fits we confirm the angle, the length and a rough deadline. If nothing fits we say so plainly rather than leave you waiting.
- 3
Write and submit
Send the agreed piece as a Google Doc or Markdown file, with your bio, headshot and any images attached separately.
- 4
Editing and publication
We edit for clarity, accuracy and house style, and check any substantive change with you first. Once it is live you get the URL to share.
Ready to pitch?
Email support@nepaindex.com with the subject line “Guest post pitch — your topic” so it reaches an editor instead of the support queue. Include your ideas, a line on who you are, and links to anything you have written before.
Contributor questions
Do you pay for guest posts?
No. Contributing is unpaid in both directions — we do not pay writers, and we do not accept payment to publish a post or place a link.
Do I get a link back to my site?
Yes. One followed link in your author bio, to your personal site, portfolio or professional profile. Links inside the article body are added only where they help the reader, and that is our editorial call rather than a condition of publishing.
Can I link to my company or a client in the post?
Only where it is directly relevant to the point being made, and only with the relationship disclosed. Paid, affiliate and exchanged links are removed, and a writer who hides one is not published again.
How long does review take?
About 7 days for a pitch and about 14 for a full draft. If you have heard nothing after that, send one follow-up — mail does get lost.
Can I republish the post on my own blog later?
Not as a copy. You are welcome to quote from it and link back, but the full text stays exclusive to NepaIndex: two identical copies compete with each other in search, which helps neither of us.
Do I need to be a professional writer?
No. We would rather publish a shop owner, guide or accountant who knows the subject first-hand than a polished piece by someone who does not. We will help with the editing.
Not a writer? List your business instead.
A free NepaIndex listing puts your business in front of the same readers — searchable by category and city, with reviews from real customers.
