Terms & Conditions

These terms are the agreement between you and NepaIndex Directory for your use of NepaIndex. By creating an account, submitting a listing or event, leaving a review, or simply browsing the site, you accept them. If you don't, please don't use the site.

How we handle personal data is covered separately in the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy, both of which form part of these terms.

1. What NepaIndex is

NepaIndex is a directory of businesses and events in Nepal. We publish information supplied by business owners and contributors, alongside reviews written by users. We are not a party to any dealing between you and a business you find here, we do not endorse or vet the businesses listed, and we do not guarantee that any listing is accurate, current, or that the business is still trading. Verify anything that matters — prices, licences, opening hours — directly with the business before relying on it.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
• Give accurate details and keep them current. One person or business, one account — don't create accounts to evade a suspension or to inflate ratings.
• You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done by someone you let use it. Tell us immediately at support@nepaindex.com if you think it has been compromised.
• You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or ban an account that breaches these terms, and a ban ends any active session immediately.

3. Listings

Anyone with an account can submit a listing, and anyone can suggest one. Submissions are not published automatically: every listing sits in a pending queue until a moderator approves it, and may be rejected or later unpublished.

When you submit a listing you confirm that:

• the information is accurate and not misleading;
• you either own or are authorised to represent the business, or you are contributing publicly available information in good faith;
• you own the photos you upload or have permission to use them, and you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, resize, and display them on the site and in search results and social previews;
• the business is real, legal in Nepal, and not one of the categories we don't carry (see section 6).

Listings are public. The contact details on a listing will be visible to anyone, including search engines — that is the purpose of a directory. Don't submit a personal phone number or home address you don't want published.

4. Claiming a listing

If a listing for your business already exists, you can claim it. Where the listing has a contact email on file, we send a verification code to that address and the claim completes automatically once you enter it — codes are short-lived and limited to a few attempts. Where there is no email to send to, you submit evidence (registration certificate, utility bill, signage photo) and a moderator reviews it.

Submitting false evidence, or claiming a business that isn't yours, will get the claim rejected and may get your account banned. We decide claims at our discretion and a decision is not an adjudication of who legally owns a business.

5. Reviews

• Review only businesses you have genuinely dealt with. One review per business per account; you can edit yours, and the business owner can post a public reply.
• Don't post reviews you were paid for, reviews of your own business, or reviews of a competitor. Don't solicit or incentivise reviews.
• Keep it about your experience. No abuse, no personal data about staff, no accusations you can't stand behind.
• Reviews are the opinions of the people who wrote them, not ours. We don't verify them and we don't remove a review simply because the business dislikes it — but we will remove one that breaches these terms. Report it and we'll look.

6. What you may not post

Across listings, events, reviews, replies, and messages, don't post anything that:

• is unlawful under Nepali law, or promotes an illegal product or service;
• is fraudulent, deceptive, or impersonates a person or business;
• infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or privacy;
• is hateful, harassing, threatening, or sexually explicit;
• is spam, an unrelated advert, or SEO filler;
• contains malware, or tries to probe, scrape, or overload the site.

Automated access — scraping, bulk downloading, or reusing our data to build a competing directory — is not permitted without written permission.

7. Events

Events you publish are subject to the same rules and the same moderation. You are responsible for the event going ahead as described; if it is cancelled or moved, update or cancel the listing promptly. We are not the organiser and take no responsibility for any event found here, including ticketing and refunds, which are between you and the organiser.

8. Featured placements and payment

Business owners can pay to feature a listing in one or more positions. Placements are priced per day, per position, and positions bought together are billed together:

Available durations are 7, 30, 90, and 365 days. The amount is always computed on our side from the table above — whatever a page or a link says, the price we charge is position rate × days.

How the flow works, and what you are agreeing to:

• Payment is made outside the site, by eSewa, Khalti, or bank transfer. You then submit the transaction reference and a proof-of-payment screenshot.
• A purchase is pending until an administrator verifies the payment. Submitting it is a request, not a confirmed booking, and nothing appears as featured until it is approved.
• Each position has limited capacity. If a position is full when your purchase is approved, the placement for that position is not created — contact us and we will arrange a credit or refund of that portion.
• A placement runs for the duration bought from the date of approval, then expires automatically. Featuring affects placement only; it does not change organic search ranking and is not a promise of any number of views, clicks, calls, or customers.
• A rejected purchase is refunded in full, less any transfer fees charged by the payment provider. Once a placement is live, fees are non-refundable, except where we remove it for a reason that isn't your breach of these terms — then we refund the unused days pro rata.
• If we take down your listing for breaching these terms, any active placement ends with it and no refund is due.
• We may change prices at any time. A change never affects a placement already paid for.

Submitting a payment reference you did not make, or a doctored proof image, is fraud. We'll reject it, ban the account, and keep the record.

9. Moderation and removal

We may edit, unpublish, or delete any content, and suspend or ban any account, where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached or the content is harmful, unlawful, or wrong. Where it is practical we will tell you why and, for a rejection, give a reason you can act on. We aim to be fair rather than fast, but we do not guarantee to review, moderate, or respond to everything, and moderation does not mean we have verified anything.

If you think something on the site infringes your rights or shouldn't be here, use the report button on the listing or event, or email support@nepaindex.com.

10. Your content, and ours

You keep ownership of everything you submit. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display, and publish it on the site and in listings, search results, social previews, and site communications, for as long as it is published. Deleting your content ends that licence going forward, but does not reach copies already cached or indexed by third parties such as search engines.

Everything else — the NepaIndex name, the site design, our code, and our compilation of the directory — belongs to us and may not be copied or reused without permission.

11. Availability

We provide the site “as is” and “as available”. We don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of it — including free features — without notice. We'll give reasonable notice before withdrawing something you have paid for, and refund the unused portion.

12. Third-party links and services

Listings link out to businesses' own websites and social profiles, and we use third-party services to run the site (sign-in with Google and Facebook, image hosting, email delivery, analytics). We don't control any of them and aren't responsible for their content or their practices. Your use of a linked site is governed by that site's own terms.

13. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law that applies. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost business, lost data, or loss arising from your dealings with a business or event you found on the site. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or NPR 5,000 if you have paid us nothing.

You agree to indemnify us against claims brought by a third party arising from content you submitted or your breach of these terms.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. Material changes will be announced on the site, and continuing to use NepaIndexafter that means you accept the new version. If you don't, close your account.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Nepal, and the courts of Kathmandu have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. Please email us first — most things are quicker to fix that way.
